2006 Club News

07/08/06 -The 161 Extreme team finished their season with a 38th place at the 2006 USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. The ladies played some great teams throughout the tournament. After the first day of pool, the team was 1-1. The team played exceptionally well - taking a game from first place seed, Willowbrook. All the matches on day two went to a third deciding game, with only one match ending in the North Stars advantage. The team finished day two with an overall record of 2-3 (match play), and 7-7 (game play). Day three began a new pool for the team. North Stars finished the pool 1-1, taking second place. Their challenge match, for seeding into the tournament, took place against Nebraska Juniors. North Stars played well, but lost the close match. The final day of play began with Rockwood Thunder. The North Stars dominated throughout the match and took the victory. The last match of the tournament was against a very competitive team, North Dallas, which the North Stars came up short - but played well. The 161 Extreme had a terrific season! We are proud of your great accomplishments. Way to go NORTH STARS!!

06/29/06 - The 161 Extreme leave today for Atlanta. The team will begin play on Saturday, July 1st. If you would like to follow the progess of the team, go to the USA Volleyball website (www.usavolleyball.org), under the juniors page. You will find real-time results on the website. 06/05/06 - Thanks to all the support from our North Stars families for the great success of the 161 Extreme's car wash. It was a great day... sunny and HOT. Thanks!!

05/22/06 - NEED YOUR CAR WASHED??? The 161 Extreme team will be having a car wash on Sunday, June 4 from 11:30am-3pm. The car wash will be held at the HyVee on Antioch and 72nd Street. Please come out and support the team. All money made will help offset the expenses for the trip to Nationals in July.

05/17/06 - The 161 Extreme will be playing in the 2006 USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. The team will start play on July 1st. The team is excited and eager to play. The team members going to Atlanta include: Lauren Berka, Jessica Billman, Kelsey Duffie, Jessica English, Sarah Niemann, Emily May, Darcy Ralston, Delaney Ralston and Meaghan Todd. Good Luck Ladies!

04/24/06 - Congratulations to all the North Stars teams that participated in the HOA Regionals this past weekend. We are proud of all the teams accomplishments. To see the results from this past weekend - check out the tournament page.

04/10/06 - North Stars on FIRE! The 14 Fire played their final tournament of the season - and was on FIRE. The team played some great matches against some competitive teams. The Fire finished the tournament with 3rd place. Way to go! We had many teams playing at JCGAC on Sunday. Check out the tournament page to see the results. The 171 Storm and 181 Force played in the Southern California Qualifier this past weekend. The Storm played together, as a team, finishing 2nd in their pool on Friday (placing them in the top half of the tournament). They had a tough pool on Saturday - but finished strong. Their final finish - 3rd in the Silver bracket (19th out of 60 teams). The 181 Force went to California with a team comprised of 4 players from their original team and 4 players from the 18 Chaos team. With little practice together, the team came out with FORCE. The Force finished 2nd in their pool on Friday (placing them in the top half of the tournament). The came up against some tough teams on Saturday - but still played well. The Force finished 35th out of 80 teams. Way to go North Stars!

04/03/06 - The North Stars teams continue to have success. This past weekend the 131 Elite team played at BVAC. The team won every game they played, bringing home the GOLD medal. The 16 Heat played in Springfield over the weekend. The 16 Heat took third place out of twenty teams in the Springfield Classic. The girls played outstanding volleyball game after game. The only games the team lost all day were to the eventual champions of the tournament. All of their focus and hard work during practice is paying off. Two North Stars teams competed in the Big South Qualifier, in Atlanta, this past weekend. The 161 Extreme played some awesome volleyball. The team won their pools both Friday and Saturday. Their first loss of the tournament came in the Power Challenge, to determine if they would go to the Gold bracket. The 161 Extreme finished the tournament 3rd in the Silver bracket (19th place out of 156 teams). The 151 Impact also had success. The team won their pool on Friday. The played some tough competition during Saturday's pool, placing them into the Bronze bracket for Sunday's play. The 151 Impact had some spectacular matches. The team finished 3rd in the Bronze bracket (29th out of 104 teams). Nice job North Stars teams!!!

03/27/06 - North Stars teams continue to have success. 151 Impact team finished 1st in their tournament this past weekend. They did not lose a match all day. The 151 Boys team competed in their first juniors tournament this past weekend, bringing home the Gold medal (see more below). The 121 Comets also had a great showing in Riverside. The team played some awesome matches, including the championship match, clinching the Gold medal. Other North Stars teams, which finished in the top three include the 181 Force, 131 Elite and 12 Hurricane.

After playing in three adult tournaments this season the boys 15 and under team finally played in a tournament with other teams that were around their age. With solid offense and defense the team was able to put together their strongest showing of the year and finished in first place. It was a great way to end the season.

03/27/06 - Congratulations to Christy Bohmann (18 Chaos) who has verbally committed to play volleyball at Park University in the fall of 2006. She is great addition for the team. Congrats Christy!

03/21/06 - Many teams were in action this past weekend at the Gold Heart Challenge. The North Stars teams performed great, bringing home many medals. The 171 Storm finished 2nd in Gold (2nd/15 teams). 181 Force finished 3rd in Gold (3rd/11 teams). 121 Comets finished 3rd in Gold (3rd/12 teams). 161 Extreme finished 1st in Silver (5th/28 teams). 151 Impact finished 2nd in Silver (6th/20 teams). 131 Elite finished 3rd in Silver (7th/16 teams). The 18 Chaos finished 1st in Bronze (9th/11 teams). We are proud of all the teams' accomplishments. Keep it up!

03/18/06 - Kathryn Cash (18 Chaos) has committed to Newman University in Wichita, KS. Congratulations! We look forward to watching her play in the fall.

03/14/06 - Congrats go out to the 181 Force who finished first in their tournament this past weekend in Emporia. The ladies played some great volleyball. Kudos also go out to the 171 Storm and 15 Attack who both brought home a silver medal. Keep up the great work ladies!

03/05/06 - North Stars teams' excelled this past weekend. The 18 Chaos team brought home another Gold medal. The team played some awesome games, defeating everyone on the road to victory. Way to go! The 121 Comets finished strong with a second place finish, taking the final match to three games. The 15 Attack brought home a silver medal from their tournament. The team played awesome. Congrats also go out to 141 Rage, 14 Fire, and 16 Galaxy who all finished in 3rd place. Nice job ladies. Congrats are also due to the 131 Elite team who completed Power League today. The team took 4th place overall (7-3). The team has placed themselves in a very good position to receive a bid to Nationals - if not with the Power League, then at Regionals. Awesome job! We are proud of all the teams accomplishments this past weekend.

02/27/06 - Congratulations goes out to Whitney Blythe (181 Force) who has committed to William Jewell in Liberty, MO. Whitney will be joining her former teammate, Heather Stewart (2005 grad from North Stars). Congrats Whit!

02/25/06 - North Stars teams were bringing home the GOLD this past weekend. The 18 Chaos received 1st place at their tournament at BVAC. The 161 Extreme also brought home a 1st place - winning every game they played. Both teams played some great volleyball. Keep up the nice work!

02/06/06 - The North Stars teams were busy this past weekend. The 16 Heat brought home a gold medal from BVAC (see more below). The 131 Elite team played in a 14Gold tournament - and brought home a silver medal. The girls played awesome! Come out and watch the 131 Elite play this weekend in the Power League. The 161 Extreme and 151 Impact both played in the Midwest Jrs Invite (16G) where they both finished well. The 161 Extreme brought home a silver medal (2nd out of 15 teams) and the 151 Impact finished 2nd in there pool and got 5th overall. Nice job ladies!

02/06/06 - Great job 16 Heat!! Congratulations to the 16 Heat who took 1st place in their tournament this past weekend. The Heat played through adversity starting the tournament down one girl due to a sprained ankle and losing another to the stomach flu during the semi-final match. The girls showed their toughness by battling back from being down 2-9 in the third game of semis to advance to the finals. Another strong tournament performance ladies, great job!

1/29/06 - Congrats to 15 Attack! The team place 1st at the Pleasant Hill Snowflake tournament. The girls played outstanding all day. They had some come from behind wins and learned how to put some teams away. Coach Marta could not have been more proud of the setters for the great job they did all day. The team came together and played with heart all day. Congrats!!

1/14/06 - Congratulations to the 16 Heat who played in their first tournament this past weekend (Saturday, 14th). The Heat played hard all day and ended up taking third place in the very competitive Wildcat Invitational in Topeka. Great job ladies!!

11/19/2005 - Our fundraisers are underway. All orders for Red Wheel Food, Pinwheels, Rosehill candles, and t-shirts are due on Saturday, December 3. If you did not pick up the order form for the mandatory fundraiser (t-shirts), please email Laura for a copy. lrtomney@aol.com

11/14/2005 - Thank you for everyone who came to tryouts. We had a great turn out. Coaches will be contacting the players in the next couple of days to give players info on this weekend.
