Klassen (Board Member) - This is Phil's 7th year with the
club. Phil helped coach a team to Nationals last season.
Phil has coached developmental volleyball for 9 years. Phil
has received many different coaching awards including, Assistant
Coach of the year ('03-04) and North Stars Award for Coaching

National Coach: Laura
Tomney (Board Member) · Laura has been coaching
with our club for 17 years. She has coached the 13, 14,
16, 17 and 18 teams with much success. Over the past 9
years, Laura has qualified and taken a team to Nationals
six times. She has led many of her teams to the championship
game of many tournaments. Her teams have finished the
season ranked in the Top 10 of their age division. Laura
has received many coaching awards within our club including
the North Stars Award for Coaching Excellence, as well
as Coach of the Year. Laura has a passion for coaching
and is instrumental in the business aspect of the club.
Laura has a wonderful full time job ~ being a mom to daughter's

National Coach: Richard
Bridges ~ This is Richard·s 13th year with the
club. He has coached the 15, 16, 17, and 18 teams. Richard
and his teams have had many accomplishments, including
partipating in Nationals three times. Richard has 12 years
of playing experience in club ball and A Division as an

Smith ~Greg has been with the club for six years. He has
been in or around the volleyball community over the past
20 years. He has coached in the parochial league, parks
and rec, juniors and high school (currently the JV Coach

Washington ~ Katie has coached with club for four years.
Katie was a standout athlete in high school, where she received
many awards. Katie continues to play volleyball now. Katie
is excited to work with the girls to improve their skills

Klassen ~ Emily's 2nd year in the program. Emily started
with the club as a player...where she played for 6 years
before going to college. Emily has coached with the North
Stars one previous year. She also has four years of coaching
with Gladstone Parks and Rec. Emily will graduate in May
from Northwest Missouri State with a teaching degree.

Smith ~ We are excited to have Courtney join our coaching
staff. Courtney played with the club in High School. After
High School Courtney received a full scholarship to play
volleyball at Missouri Valley College. Courtney has been
coaching for the past three years. Courtney enjoys working
with players on the core fundamentals no matter what the
age. She believes that positive attitude along with positive

she brings with her to the North Stars VBC. Debbie has coached
at many different levels, including parachial league, club,
and high school. Debbie enjoys working with the ladies,
watching them improve and then following their careers.

National Coach: Missy
Larson - Missy has been a coach with our Club since the
beginning. During that time she has coached the 14, 15,
16, 17, and 18 teams. Her coaching honors include 1995-96
& 1999-00 Coach of the Year, 1996 Regional Champions
- HOA (18), 1996-97 Most Valuable Coach, 2001 1st Place
Silver at the Northeast Qualifier in Baltimore (14). Missy
also has playing experience for the University of Missouri.
During her four years at MU she received All Big 8 Team
and Team Captain honors. Missy is currently the Freshman

Shupe-This is Mindi's 5th year coaching, but she been playing
volleyball since high school. She currently manages a women's
HOA team and have done so for about 6 years. Mindi played
basketball, volleyball, track and softball in high school
lettering in all 4 all 4 years. She ran track at Northeast
Missouri State University. Mindi is an occupational therapist
and work for a home health company. Mindi lives in Parkville,

Coach
Lindsey Hood (Zerr) - A well known coach in the Kansas
City Area. Lindsey has 11 years coaching experience; 9 years
club, currently the Varsity coach as Park Hill High School,
2 years at Staley HS, 3 years Oak Park High School, 1 year
collegiate (Colgate). During the 2008 season, Lindsey's
team won Regionals and competed at Nationals in Texas. Lindsey
attained numerous honors in both high school and collegiate.
We are excited to have Lindsey in our program. She brings
tons of volleyball knowledge, as well as experience.
